Gene Lasneski, 77

Mass of Christian Burial for Gene Lasneski of Roseau will be held on Wednesday, March 16, at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Roseau at 11:00 a.m.  Visitation will be on Tuesday at Helgeson Funeral Chapel in Roseau from 5-7 p.m. with a Vigil Service at 7:00 p.m., and also one hour prior to the Funeral at Church.  Military Rites will be provided by the Roseau Memorial Honor Guard.
Gene Lasneski was born on May 9, 1933 in Greenbush, MN to Agnes (Kukowski) and Max Lasneski.  He attended school in Greenbush and graduated from Greenbush High School in 1952.  Gene then attended college in Thief River Falls for one year while working part-time. He enlisted in the United States Army on June 14, 1954 and fought in the Korean War.  He was honorably discharged on May 24, 1956.  
On September 25, 1956 Gene and Edwina “Eddie” Lussier were united in marriage at Red Lake, MN and they were married for 54 years.  They lived in Greenbush for several years before settling in Roseau, MN.  Gene worked at Land O’ Lakes in Roseau for 32 years.  He also drove the R-Cat bus in Roseau.
Gene enjoyed collecting old cars and tractors.  He purchased a brand new 1956 Ford Fairlane Victoria which he has never sold.  It is restored and Gene enjoyed driving it in parades.  He liked parades and entered many of them.  He also drove old tractors in them. He enjoyed fishing, gardening, woodworking, and dancing.  He and Eddie annually attended Oktoberfest in Baudette.
Gene is a past commander of the Roseau VFW, was a member of the Knights of Columbus, the Cooties, and also the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Roseau.
Gene Lasneski passed away on Saturday, March 12, 2011 at the Minnesota Veterans Home of Fergus Falls at the age of 77 years old.
He is survived by his wife Edwina; children, Donna (Curtis Haugen) of Roseau, Janice Foss of Bagley, Greg (Lori) Lasneski of Roseau, Dale Lasneski of Tennessee, Shirley (Brent) Griffin of Blue Earth, MN, Sharon (Larry ) Wellen of Thief River Falls, MN, and Carol Winger of Bemidji; siblings, Ernie (Rosie) Lasneski, Carol (Ken) Nordman, Ken (Betty) Lasneski, and Jim (Renee) Lasneski; ten grandchildren, Sarah, Brian, Andrea, Emily, Amanda, Daniel, Jessie, Adam, Laura, and Riley; fourteen great-grandchildren, eleven step-grandhcildren, and twenty six step-great-grandchildren, and many great-great-grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his son, Eugene, brother, Jerry, and his parents, Max and Agnes Lasneski
