Lyle David Walz, 68

Lyle David Walz was born on November 24, 1942 in Hallock, MN to Otto and Stella (Carlson) Walz.  He was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith at Salem Lutheran church of rural Stephen and attended the Benson country school in Augsburg Township, Marshall County.  Following school Lyle farmed with his father in Augsburg Township growing potatoes, small grains and raising pigs for many years. 

 His father passed away in 1987 and Lyle continued to farm, later putting his land in CRP and raising a small herd of cattle as a hobby.  Lyle also worked for the Harvest Brigade, a farm in Homestead Florida, Simplot, American Crystal Sugar and Dagen Farms.  Lyle passed away unexpectedly at his home at the age of 68 years, 3 months, and 11 days.

Lyle was a lifelong, active, member of Salem Lutheran church of rural Stephen, MN.  He enjoyed hunting deer and ducks, and fishing with his father at the Northwest Angle. Lyle also enjoyed fixing or tinkering with anything mechanical for his friends and neighbors. His nieces and nephews were also very important to him and he enjoyed spending time with them and giving them a tease now and again.

He is survived by 3 sisters: Lois (Mark) Hoper of Cedar Rapids, IA, Lonnie Kujava of Karlstad, MN., Cooky  (Tom) Kujava of Greenbush, MN., his special friend Joanne Weets of Thief River Falls, MN., 6 nephews, 3 nieces, 6 great nephews, 9 great nieces, and many other relatives.
Lyle was preceded in death by his parents, 1 brother Otto Jr. in infancy, 1
sister Leone Renstrom, brother in law Tim Renstrom, and 1 niece Errin Renstrom.

Funeral services were held at 1:30PM, Sunday, March 13, 2011 at Salem Lutheran church of rural Stephen, MN. with Pastor Curt Matz officiating.  Ellen Johnson was the
