Leona M. Slominski, 82

Leona M. Slominski, age 82 of Ardoch, ND passed away Saturday, March 26, 2011 at the Altru Hospital of Grand Forks.  Leona M. Kowalski was born April 19, 1928 in Minto, ND the daughter of the late Julian and Pauline (Lunski) Kowalski.  She attended school in Minto, ND, after her schooling she worked at the Grafton Developmental Center.  She was united in marriage to Theodore (Ted) Slominski on September 30, 1947 in Minto, ND.  The couple made their home on the family farm near Ardoch.  Theodore passed away May 24, 1995.  Leona continued to make her home on the farm until 2001 when she moved to Parkwood Place in Grand Forks.

Leona enjoyed spending time with her family, gardening, crocheting, embroidering, and baking.

She was a member of the St. Stanislaus Catholic Church and altar society, and the Minto American Legion Auxiliary.

Leona is survived by her children:  Gary (Beverly) Slominski, Ardoch, ND; Sandy (Al Pilon) Slominski, East Grand Forks, MN; grandchildren: Ryan, Tara, and Kari Slominski.  Several nieces and nephews also survive.  She was the last survivor of her immediate family.  She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, brothers: Ray Kowalski, Julian Kowalski, Severn Kowalski and Ed Korynta; sisters: Irene Maszk, Violet Kouba, and Fran Gravelin.

Mass of Christian Burial will be Thursday, March 31, 2011 at 10:30 A.M. at the St. Stanislaus Catholic Church, Warsaw, ND.  Visitation will be Wednesday from 5-7 P.M. with a prayer service at 7:00 P.M. at the Tollefson Funeral Home of Grafton.  Friends may also call at the church on Thursday for one hour prior to the service.  Interment will be at the St. Stanislaus Catholic Cemetery.
