Luella Frances (Scharf) Hanson

Luella Frances (Scharf) Hanson was born July 6, 1924 in Ross
Township, Roseau County, MN to Jacob and Emma (Stoe) Scharf.  Luella
Married Alvin Hanson on August 18, 1948 and lived in Strathcona her
entire life.  She has been a resident of Greenbush LifeCare Manor
since 2006 where she passed away on Tuesday, April 12, 2011 at the
age of 86 years
Luella enjoyed childhood with many activities including church and
confirmation at Badger Creek Free Lutheran, 4-H and earning trips to
the MN State Fair for bread making, and her pet sheep.  As a young
adult she did domestic work in the neighborhood.
Luella loved her Lord and Savior and was a member of Grace
Evangelical Church, Ladies Aid, WMS and was Church Secretary for 35
years.  She and Alvin always had a huge vegetable garden and loved to
can, she loved flowers and she could make anything thing grow.
Luella enjoyed baking and was known for her raised doughnuts. Also
enjoyed sewing, embroidering, and crocheting.  Everyone loved Luella.
She is survived by her daughter Alvina (David) Johnson, Clearwater,
MN, 2 sons Jule (Pat) Hanson, Warroad, MN, Gale (Renae) Hanson,
Strathcona, MN.  8 Grandchildren Tressa (Matt) Elvehjem, Amanda
(Gary) Partridge, Brent (Ronda), Jake, Kallie, Priscilla (fiancé
Bobby Shepard), Justin (Nikki), Jordan (Ashley) Hanson.  17 Great
Grandchildren Grace, Cora, Olivia Elvehjem, Grady Partridge, Alex,
Emma, Owen, Selah, Clara, Shundra, Toby, Damion, Daizy, Kamrin,
Kristian, Kailey, Kayden Hanson.  Sister Eleanor (Chester) Snow,
Roseau, MN.,  Sisters-In-Law Hilda Erickson, Bonnie Hanson and
Brother-In-Law Tommy (Virginia) Hanson, along with many and nieces,
nephews, and other relatives.
She is preceded in death by her parents, husband Alvin in 1990, and
siblings Betty Bradley, Orville Scharf, Julian Scharf and Myrtle
Funeral services will be  held at 10:00AM, Saturday, April 16, 2011 at
Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church in Strathcona, MN with Pastor Robert Ludwig officiating.  Pat Ludwig was the organist playing “Great Is Thy Faithfulness” and “When We All Get To Heaven” as the Congregational Hymns.  Pat also accompanied vocalists Jim Gjovik and Vernon Lorenson singing “I Shall Know Him” and “Going Home” as special music.  Luella’s Casket Bearers were Kent Scharf, Wayne Bradley, Kent Hanson, Kevan Hanson, Layden Hanson, and Craig Hanson and her Honorary Casket Bearers were all of her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Visitation was held after 5:00PM, Friday, at Collins Funeral
Chapel of Greenbush, with a prayer service at 7:00PM.  Visitation
was also held one hour prior to services at the church.
Interment was held at Greenwood Cemetery of Strathcona following
Arrangements are with Collins Funeral Home of Greenbush.
