Ida Mae Dobmeier age 95 of Grand Forks, ND passed away on Thursday, April 21, 2011 at Valley Memorial Homes, Woodside Village in Grand Forks, ND.
Ida Mae McLaren was born on August 4, 1915 in Fairdale, ND the daughter of Robert and Tena (Svalde) McLaren. Ida grew up on a farm near Fairdale, ND and attended Country School. She moved to Grand Forks, ND were she was employed with the University of North Dakota. On November 30, 1948 she was united in marriage to George Dobmeier in Crookston, MN. Ida worked for area farmers during the potato season for many years.
Family members who survive Ida Mae include her children, Lynne (Bruce) Torfin of Park River, ND, Sherry (Lawrence) Gierszewski of Grand Forks, ND and Karen (David) Thorfinnson of East Grand Forks, MN, 12 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren along with 1 sister Lauretta Watt of Osnabrock, ND.
Ida Mae is preceded in death by her parents; husband George Dobmeier; 1 daughter Cheryl Lee Dobmeier; 1 son Jeffrey Dobmeier and a granddaughter Amy Torfin; brothers, Everal, Lloyd, Scottie, Norman and David; sisters, Irene and Emma.
Ida was an avid horse lover and enjoyed her flower gardens
