Donald Dostal, 66

Don was born on December 30, 1944 at Elyria, Ohio to Howard and Lucille

(Walker) Dostall. He attended grade school in Elyria and then moved with his family to Scotch Plains, New Jersey and graduated from Scotch Plains High School in 1963. He enlisted into the United States Air Force in October 1963 and was stationed in Baudette from

1964 to 1967. He returned to New Jersey and was employed by Burroughs Electronics from 1967 to 1971.


While stationed in Baudette, Don met Lynette Johnson. They were married on July 20, 1968 and returned to New Jersey where they lived for three years before returning to Baudette. Don was employed by Howard’s Oil until 1974 and then started employment at North Star Electric. While clearing brush there he had on-the-job training to become a lineman. Don truly enjoyed this occupation but was forced to go on  disability in 2003 because of a knee replacement.


Family members who survive Don include his wife Lynette; one daughter Karen(Stewart) Ferrier of Baudette, one son Allen Dostall of Champlin, MN and one granddaughter, also the apple of his eye Keira Paige Ferrier; a sister Joanne (Bob) Mercier of Punta Gorda, FL; sister-in-law Leanne Dahl and sister-in-law Judy (Norman) Johnson all of Baudette. Also surviving are his godson Carl Wiese and four nieces and four nephews.


Don was preceded in death by his parents; mother-in-law, Gladys Johnson; brother in-law, David Dahl; and a very special nephew, Jeff Dahl.


Services were held Wednesday, June 8th at the First Lutheran Church in Baudette, MN. Interment at Elm Park Cemetery.
