Doris Luann Hustad (Hanson), 78, East Grand Forks, MN died June 14, 2011 with her children by her side.

Doris Luann Hanson was born February 18th 1933 in East Grand Forks, MN, the daughter of Andrew and Carrie (Karin Thureen) Hanson.  She was baptized and confirmed at Bethesda Lutheran Church in East Grand Forks.

Doris was a graduate of East Grand Forks Central High School in 1950, where she participated in many activities. Doris attended Concordia College (Moorhead, MN) where in 1954, she graduated with a degree in Home Economics. She was active in many organizations and garnered life-long friendships from her time there. 

Doris taught Home Economics in Battle Lake, MN and Fergus Falls, MN.  After 21 years as a Dietary Technician in the Human Nutrition Research Center at the University of North Dakota she retired in 2003. The family also resided in Mankato, MN and Willmar, MN.  

Whichever city she lived in there was one constant, her active participation in her church.  From planting flowers and chairing the craft bazaar to being Sunday School Superintendant and council member, Doris enjoyed serving.  She was also an active member of Eastern Star.   Doris was a creative and talented seamstress, liked playing games, flower gardening and anything Swedish.  Mostly she enjoyed spending time with her family.

Doris was a deeply caring, kind and loving mother , grandmother and friend.  She was very involved and supportive of all her children’s and grandchildren’s activities.  Her unconditional love and support will be greatly missed.

Doris is survived by her children, Kari (Brian) Carr of Fergus Falls, MN and Matthew (Maren) Hustad of Dayton, MN; grandsons Tyler (Krista) Hustad of Lonsdale, MN, Jason (Elizabeth) Hustad of Cannon Falls, MN, Kirby (Annie) Carr of Shoreview, MN, Brandon (Elizabeth) Carr of Plymouth, MN and granddaughters Lauren and Emma Hustad of Dayton, MN.; ten great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

Doris is preceded in death by her son  Mark Hustad, parents, and brothers Herbert (Edith) Hanson, Lawrence (Thelma) Hanson, Donald Hanson, Clifford Hanson and LeRoy Hanson.

Funeral Service: Monday, June 20th at 1:00pm.  Bethany Lutheran Church, rural East Grand Forks

Visitation: 1 hour prior to the service

Burial: Bethany Lutheran Church Cemetery
