Lorena Judith (Bestrom) Huotari, 100

Lorena Judith (Bestrom) Huotari was born September 22, 1910 in Eureka, Wisconsin, near St. Croix Falls.  When she was two years old her family moved to North Dakota where they stayed until she finished fourth grade.  They then moved to a homestead in Park Township, Minnesota.  She went to Lainy School and finished the 8th grade there.  
Lorena’s Parents were Louis and Julia (Severson) Bestrom.  She married Joseph Carl Huotari on November 26, 1930.  They purchased a farm south of Pitt, Minnesota in 1937, and moved to Duluth in 1941.  They were later divorced.  She worked at S. S. Kresge Co. store for ten years as a sales clerk.  She also worked at several hotels in Duluth along with owning a small apartment house.
Lorena was a member of Mt. Olive Lutheran Church in Duluth.  She moved into Greysolon Plaza Senior Living Center in 1980 until 2009 when she moved to the Baudette Care Center in Baudette, Minnesota.  While she was in the care center she celebrated her 100th birthday on September 22nd with many friends and relatives.  She moved to the Memory Unit Care Center in Warroad, Minnesota in May of 2011.
Lorena passed away on passed away June 8, 2011 at the Warroad Care Center.
She was preceded in death by her parents; one sister Laura; five brothers, Melvin, James, Andrew and twins Earl and Edwin.
She is survived by several nieces and nephews including Leonard Bestrom of Laurel, Montana, and Curtis Mattern of Drums, Pennsylvania.
Cremation has taken place and she will rest in Potama Cemetery in Graceton, Minnesota, next to her parents and two brothers.  There will be a graveside service at a later date.
