Adrian Johnson, 99

Adrian Johnson, 99, of Hallock, Minnesota passed away at Kittson
Memorial Healthcare Center in Hallock on Tuesday, August 30, 2011.
Adrian was born in South Red River Township of Kittson County,
Minnesota on September 8, 1911, the son of William and Esther
(Hanson) Johnson.  He grew up on the family farm and attended country
school.  Adrian went on to attend Coyne Electrical School in Chicago.
He worked at Ford Motor Company in Chicago for two years as a paint
inspector.  On June 18th, 1938 he was united in marriage to Elsie
Adeline Louise  Peterson at Bethany Lutheran Church in Minneapolis.
After returning to the area he took a sales position at Goodman Farm
Electric in Grand Forks, North Dakota.   Adrian went into business at
Hallock opening the Adrian Johnson Electric Company in 1946. In the
1950’s he began selling Oliver farm implements with Frank Bryden.  He
also worked as an electrician at American Crystal Sugar Company in
Drayton for seven years.  Adrian farmed in Red River Township for
over 60 years.  He was a lifelong member of Red River Lutheran Church
and was a former Sunday School superintendent; was a member of the
Kennedy Farmers Elevator for 27 years; served as clerk on the South
Red River Township Board since 1976 and was a member of the Minnesota
Association of Townships Legislative Research Committee.
    Family members include his children, Douglas William (Lesley)
Johnson, Belmont, CA, Eleanor Adrianne Means, Las Vegas, NV, Dwight
Herbert (MaryLou) Johnson, Kennedy, MN and T.J. Louise Lipka, Las
Vegas; grandchildren, Kevin (Amy) Walters and children, Owen and
Jamie, Belmont, CA, Stacey Ann Johnson (Kevin Chamberlain) Redwood
City, CA, Amanda Jean Johnson, San Francisco, CA; Michelle Means
Campbell and children Makenzie and Dilan, Las Vegas, NV and Michael
Means (Heather) and children, Baylee, Ella and Lincoln, Las Vegas,
NV.  Adrian was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Elsie who
died in 1996; a son-in-law, Ted Lipka; two brothers, Harold and
Maurice and a sister, Aurora.
    Funeral services are scheduled for Saturday, September 3, 2011 at
10:30 a.m. in Red River Lutheran Church, rural Hallock.  Interment
will be in Red River Lutheran Cemetery. Rev. Craig Bowyer, presiding;
Stephanie Hanson, pianist; Owen Swenson, soloist.  Honorary casket
bearers will be Wayne Langen, Melvin Such, Harris Mortenson, Charles
Anderson and George Elhardt.  Casket bearers will be Noel Peterson,
John Deere, Jerod Hanson, Jim Johnson, Duane Peterson and Larry
Peterson.  Visitation will be held on Friday evening from 6 to 8 p.m.
in the Austin Funeral Home in Hallock with a prayer service at 7:00
