Duane Lyberg, 62

Duane Lyberg, 62, of Hallock, Minnesota passed away at his home on Friday evening, September 9th, 2011. Duane Allan Lyberg was born December 23, 1948 to Andy and Verna (Norland) Lyberg at Hallock. He was baptized at Grace Lutheran Church and confirmed at the Two River Lutheran Church, rural Hallock. He graduated from Lancaster High School in 1966 and attended the University of Minnesota Crookston until April of 1969 when he proudly enlisted and served in the U.S. Navy for 4 years. On April 13, 1974 he married Rebecca Lynn Anderson at Grace Lutheran Church and made their home in Hallock. Duane began working at Northwestern State Bank in 1974 and continued to work at the bank, now United Valley Bank, for 37 years. Duane’s biggest passion was people. He enjoyed the company of everyone and was sincerely interested in your story. He was a member of Grace Lutheran Church and was active in the community. He was on the Hallock Fire Department for 33 years and truly felt a kinship among the other volunteer firemen. Music was such an important part of his life, It was a calming force in his life. He loved to hunt, fish, camp and simply spend time with family and friends.
Family members include his wife, Becky; his parents, Andy and Verna; a brother, Robert (LaVonne), Hawley, MN; brother-in-law, Rick Lindegard, Hallock; mother-in-law, Frances Anderson, Hallock; sisters-in-law, Elaine (Gary) Koop, Hallock, Jean (Tom) Wilebski, Mosinee, WI, and Roxanne (Terry) Ogorek, Hallock; brother-in-law, Lee (Karen) Anderson, Frisco, TX and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his brother, Brian; sister, Andrea; and father-in-law, Melvin Anderson.
Funeral services are scheduled for Wednesday, September 14th, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. in Grace Lutheran Church, Hallock. Interment will be in Greenwood Cemetery, Hallock. Rev. Craig Bowyer, presiding; Renee Ryden, organist; “The Hewitts” and the “Poppleridge Pickers”. Casket bearers will be Jim Johnson, Joel Muir, Phil Muir, John Muir, John Deere and Jeff Deere. Honorary casket bearers will be the Hallock Fire Department, United Valley Bank family and Music Friends. Visitation will be held at Grace Lutheran Church on Tuesday evening, September 13th, from 6 to 8 p.m. with a prayer service at 7:00 p.m. The Austin Funeral Home of Hallock is in charge of arrangements.
