Leona Larson, 81

Leona Larson, 81, of Hallock, Minnesota passed away at Kittson
Memorial Healthcare Center in Hallock on Friday, September 30, 2011.
Leona Margaret Anderson was born in Kittson County on October 22,
1929, the daughter of Levin and Martha (Hoglin) Anderson. She
attended school in Hallock and graduated from high school in 1947.
Leona worked as a telephone operator and at Glidden’s Dairy Bar and
Dairy for several years. Leona also worked at the Co-op Elevator
until her retirement. On September 1, 1950 she married Walter
“Swede” Larson. Swede passed away on December 16th, 2006. Leona was
a member of Grace Lutheran Church and the “Sewing Club”. Family was
especially important to Leona and she enjoyed sewing, quilting,
knitting and baking for Swede and the children. Leona became a
resident of the nursing center in 2003.
Family members include her children, Michael (Deb) Larson, Warroad,
MN, Patricia (Ron) Sugden, Battle Lake, MN, Craig (Jody) Larson,
Bemidji, MN and Kevin (Melissa) Larson, Hallock; 10 grandchildren,
Carmie Larson Storey, Tara Sugden Hanson, Megan Sugden Johnson, Kent
Larson, Mark Larson, Casey Larson, Austin Larson, Madisson Larson,
Tristan larson, Oscar Larson and Brianna Tolman; 6 great
grandchildren, CeCe, Griffin and Maizee Storey, Owen Larson, Thorland
Larson and Cash Hanson; three brothers, Linden Anderson, Hallock, Jim
(Joan) Anderson, San Jose, CA and Ron (Judy) Anderson, Kragnes, MN; a
sister, Janice (Kenneth) Anderson, Hallock; two sisters-in-law,
Frances Anderson and Melba (Duane) Younggren, Hallock; two
brothers-in-law, Marvin Larson, Jackson, MI and Kermit Erickson, in
California; as well as nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death
by her parents; husband; a sister, Marlys Erickson and a brother,
Melvin Anderson.
Funeral services are scheduled for Thursday, October 6th, 2011 at
11:00 a.m. in Grace Lutheran Church, Hallock. Interment will be in
Greenwood Cemetery, Hallock. Rev. Craig Bowyer, presiding; Ron
Fossell, soloist and Renee Ryden, organist. Honorary casket bearers
will be the Sewing Club. Casket bearers will be Leona’s
grandchildren. Visitation will be at the Austin Funeral Home on
Wednesday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. with a prayer service at 7:00p.m.
