Hazel Wilhelmena Brandvold, the daughter of the late Peter and Ida (Stahlberg) Anderson, was born on March 27, 1911, at Strathcona, MN. She attended school and grew to womanhood at Strathcona and on May 13, 1934, was united in marriage to Oscar Olson at Strathcona. The couple resided at Strathcona for many years. Oscar passed away Oct. 11, 1966, and on June 5, 1987, Hazel was united in marriage to Carl Brandvold in South Dakota. They made their home west of Greenbush. Carl passed away in 1991. Hazel was a member of the Karlstad Baptist Church, Lay Pastor of the Baptist Chapel at Strathcona and was active in the Grace Evangelical Church of Strathcona as pianist. soloist and teacher. She also was a school teacher in Minnesota and South Dakota rural school and later in California schools. She earned her BA degree from the University of Minnesota, Moorhead, in 1964. For the past several years, Hazel has resided at Minneapolis and passed away at Walker Methodist Health Center there on Sun. evening, Oct. 9, 2011, at the age of 100 years, 6 months and 12 days/
She is survived by one son: Gayle (Lily), of Plymouth, MN.; one daughter: Marilyn (George) Goers, of Boise, ID; 8 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; 10 great-great-grandchildren; one sister: Lorraine Jones, of Oregon City, OR; in addition to many nieces, nephews and other relatives.
Hazel was preceded in death by her first and second husbands, her parents, one son: Glenn, brother: Lloyd Anderson, and sisters: Sally Hamness, Ellen Olson and Irene Richardson.
