Edgar Gustav Hanson, the son of Sigurd and Hannah (Engstrom) Hanson, was born February 23, 1921 in Roosevelt, MN. He was one of eight children. He grew up and went to school in Roosevelt.
He served in the Armed Forces as a Medic during WWII from August 7, 1942 – December 23, 1945. He married Nora (Solien) Draper on November 7, 1960. They made their home in Roosevelt until 1963 when they moved to Oregon and he worked at Milano Sash and Door. Upon returning to Minnesota in 1967 they bought a home in Williams and he went to work at Marvin’s until his retiring in 1984. He also did logging and cutting fire wood on the side.
His hobbies and enjoyment included hunting, trapping and fishing. Edgar’s health started failing in 2008 and he remained at home until he entered Lakewood Health Center October 18, 2011 and passed away peacefully October 26, 2011.
Edgar is survived by sons, Daryle (Stephanie) Hanson of Stevens Point, WI, Alan Hanson of Williams, MN, Bruce (Marsha) Draper of Williams, MN, Leroy (Janet) Draper of Oregon, David Draper of Oregon; grandchildren, Micaela and Layne Hanson, Tonja Jonassen, Christoher, Jason, and Justin Draper, Pam, Cara, and Derek Hanson; Scott Draper and Tracy Shimp, Tammy Wease, Debbie Sauer; 10 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandchild; brothers, Lawrence and Gordon Hanson of Roosevelt, MN; as well as several nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his loving wife Nora; both parents; sister, Ethel Hecker; brothers, Melvin, Alfred, Walter and Raymond; daughter, Connie Hanson; grandson, Jeremy Draper.
