Jane Deloris Koland, 86

Jane Deloris Koland, the daughter of the late Aron and Aldine (Tweeten) Carlson, was born on Jan. 12, 1925, at Halma, MN. The family resided at Halma until 1932, then moved to Lake Bronson and in 1939, moved to Karlstad. Jane was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith and graduated from Karlstad High School in 1942. She always enjoyed music, singing in the sextet and high school choir. She worked in the Cities for a while and on June 3, 1948, was united in marriage to Morris Koland at Pinewood, MN. The couple resided at Minneapolis for a year, then returned to the Karlstad community. In 1964, they built their new home in Karlstad. Jane was a long-time member of First Lutheran Church of Karlstad and active in the church choir and ladies aid. She was employed at the former Wikstrom Jewelry Store in Karlstad, Karlstad Advocate and the Winjum (Froberg) Clothing Store in Karlstad. Following Morris’ retirement, the couple spent numerous winters with their daughter in Southern California. She also belonged to two music groups during winters in Escondido, CA. Morris passed away March 20, 2003. She moved to the Meadows Assisted Living facility in Karlstad in November of 2009 and since May of 2010, has resided at the Karlstad Healthcare Center in Karlstad where she passed away on Wednesday morning, November 9, 2011, at the age of 86 years, 9 months and 27 days.
