Rolland Benson, 90

Rolland Benson, 90, of Lake Bronson, Minnesota passed away at the
Karlstad Healthcare Center on Sunday morning, November 13, 2011.
Rolland was born at Springfield, Minnesota to Anton and Margaret
(Hebert) Benson on November 17, 1920. He grew up in Springfield
where he attended school and later farmed. On May 30, 1970 Rolland
married Melba Larson at Elbow Lake, Minnesota. Rolland managed Cenex
Stations for many years and in 1982 moved to Lake Bronson to manage
that location. He retired in 1984. In retirement Rolland raised
cattle and sheep which became part of “the family” on his farm near
Lake Bronson. He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church and was an
active member of the Lake Bronson Lions.
Family members include his wife, Melba; seven children, James
(Marilyn) Benson, Jerald (Jan) Benson, Rolland (Carol) Benson Jr.,
Joan (Fred) Miller, Marlys (Mark) Amundson, Dixie (Lon) Olson and
Jacquelyn Benson; three step children, Sharon (Roger) Thompson, Alan
(Gloria) Anderberg and Ron Anderberg; many grandchildren and great
grandchildren; a brother, Clifford (Linda) Benson and a sister,
Florence Pendergrast. He was preceded in death by his parents; and a
brother, Russell.
Memorial services are scheduled for Wednesday, November 16th, 2011
at 11:00 a.m. in Zion Lutheran Church at Lake Bronson. Interment
will be in Springfield. Pastor Kathy Levenhagen, presiding; Lenore
Olson, organist. Honorary casket bearers will the the Lake Bronson
Lions Club. The Austin Funeral Home of Hallock is in charge of
arrangements.
