Sadie Lee Carlson, 97

Sadie Lee Carlson, the daughter of the late Neil and Beatrice (Brown) Winters, was born on Nov. 10, 1914, at Gwinn, Michigan. She was raised in Carlshend, Michigan, and on Sept. 27, 1932, was united in marriage to Elton Carlson, They settled in Marquette, Michigan and were the proprietors of the Smith & Smith Paint & Wallpaper store in Marquette.
Sadie went to meet the Lord on Sunday morning, Nov. 13, 2011, at her daughter’s resident in Karlstad where she had recently been residing. She was 97 years and 3 days of age.
She is survived by four daughters: Jean Grassauer, of Mapleton, Oregon; Judy Nyman, of Karlstad; Bethany (Rev. David) Riveness, also of Karlstad; and Nan (Fredrick) Westbrook, of Lino Lakes, Minnesota; one son: Neil (Nancy) Carlson, also of Marquette; three sisters: Phoebe Anderson, of Coopersville, Michigan; Jean Janofski, of Marquette; and Addie Hansen, of Foster City, Michigan; one brother: Allan Winters, of Duluth, Minnesota; 16 grandchildren; 36 great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews and other relatives.
Sadie was preceded in death by her husband in 1983, her parents, brother: Malcom Winters, grandsons: Aaron Riveness and Stefan Grassauer, and great-grandson: Weston Riveness.
A prayer service was held at 7 P.M. Fri. evening at the Collins Funeral Chapel in Karlstad with Pastor David Riveness officiating..
Her memorial service and burial will be held at a later date in Marquette, Michigan.
