Beatrice Iona Hanson, 82

Beatrice Iona Hanson, the daughter of the late George and Ada (Golby) Lindstrom, was born on Nov. 21, 1929, in Deerwood Twp. of Kittson Co., near Karlstad, MN.  She grew up there and attended the former Beaton School near her home.  Beatrice was baptized into the Lutheran faith.  She married Bernhard Glatzel and to this union was born a daughter, Bernice.  On Dec. 23, 1947, Beatrice married Clarence Hanson at Karlstad.  They made their home in the Karlstad community for many years.  Beatrice was a life-long member of Bethel Lutheran Church of Karlstad.  She enjoyed knitting, berry picking and spending time with family.  She also enjoyed growing roses, her dogs and especially, watching and feeding Hummingbirds.  Clarence passed away Jan. 1, 1981, and she continued her home north of Karlstad.  For the past five years, she has resided at Oakland Park Nursing Home in Thief River Falls where she passed away Fri. afternoon, Dec. 16, 2011, at the age of 82 years and 25 days.

  She is survived by one daughter:  Eileen (Bud) Hemp, of Middle River, MN.;  three sons: Gordon (Maryellen), of Iron, MN., Mitch (Kathy), of Lake Bronson, MN. and Stanley (Donna), of Redding, CA.;  7 grandchildren;  many great-grandchildren;  one sister: Julia Kleven, of Karlstad;  one brother: George (Joan) Lindstrom, of Karlstad; in addition to many nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives.

   Beatrice was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, two daughters: Bernice and Shirley in infancy;  four sisters: Cora, Laura, Marie and Delores; and one brother: Erik.
