Bruce Eschler, 62

Bruce  Eschler, 62, of Kennedy, Minnesota passed away at Kittson
Memorial Healthcare Center in Hallock on December 25th, 2011 of
injuries he received in an automobile accident.  Bruce Lynn Eschler
aka, Fred the Bear, FTB, Freddie, Bear and El Oso was born March 25,
1949 at Hallock, Minnesota the son of John and LaVerna (Johnson)
Eschler.   He was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith and
was a member of Maria Lutheran Church.  Bruce graduated from Kennedy
High School in 1967 and  received his business degree from the
University of Minnesota at Crookston.  He worked road construction
and set up grain bins for several years before opening The Bear’s Den
at Donaldson, Minnesota in 1980.  Fred the Bear closed the Den in
2000 and worked part time at the Kennedy VFW, the Zoo in Drayton and
helped at several area farms.   He also managed the club house at Two
River Golf Course for two years.
    Family members include a sister, Ginny (Ron) Reese, East Island
Lake, Dent, Minnesota; a brother, Dale (Sheila) Eschler, Hallock, MN;
nephews, Christopher (Laura) Reese and son, Jamesen, Brian Reese,
Jason (Darcie) Keenan and their children, Ashton and Brekin; and
niece Brianna (Ashlan Kukowski) Eschler.  He was preceded in death by
his parents; and friend and furry companion, “Spike”.  
    Memorial services are scheduled for Friday, December 30th, 2011 at
10:00 a.m. in Maria Lutheran Church, Kennedy.  Visitation will be
held at the church on Thursday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. with a prayer
service at 7:00 p.m.  Pastor Kathy Levenhagen, presiding; Renee
Ryden, soloist, Dwight Nelson, soloist. Honorary casket bearers will
be Rod Hennen, Scott Flatland, Danny Juhl, Corey Grochowski, Darron
Benson, Wayne Hultgren, Harold Moose, Gary Spilde, Dave Boatz and Ted
