Peter J. Filipiak, Sr., 82

Peter J. Filipiak, Sr., 82, Green Bay, WI, passed away Friday evening, December 16, 2011, surrounded by his family, following and short and courageous battle with cancer.
    The son of Nicholas and Mary (Donarski) Filipiak was born October 20, 1929 in Strandquist, MN, where he married lillian Mauer on September 2, 1952. In March of 1952, the couple moved to Krakow, where they had a dairy farm. In 1958, they moved to Pulaski and, son after, he began his carer at Fort Howard. Peter retired from the mill after 33 years of employment. In 2003, Lillian and Peter sold their home near Pulaski and moved to Green Bay. He was a member of the Pulaski Lions Club and the St. Mary’s Pacers Walking Club. Pete was a distributor for Home Interiors and was a driver for the American Red Cross for many years. He loved to play dominos and enjoyed playing cards. He also enjoyed the outdoors and fishing and hunting in his younger years. Pete was a longtime member of SS. Edward & Isidor Parish in Flintville.
    Survivors include three sons: Kenneth, Pulaski; Peter, Jr., Mansfield, TX; and Edward (Connie) Suamico; two daughters: Barbara Kolkowski (fiance Paul Anderson), Green Bay; and Sharon Sell (companion Jerry Bellmore), Cedar Rapids, IA; 12 grandchildren: Tammy, Kevin, Hollly, Lisa, Amy, Mitchell, Windy, Keith, Breanna, Robert, Renee and Elvis James; nine great-grandchildren; his very, very special friend: Violet Evraets, Green Bay; Lillian’s sister: Leona Chwialkowski, Lake Bronson, MN; a sister-in-law: Beverly Mauer, Aurora, MN; nieces and nephews, other relatives in friends.
    He was preceded in death by his wife: Lillian  in 2004; a son: Gary in 1982; and four sisters: Helen, Agnes, Rose and Anna.
    The Funeral Mass was celebrated at 10:30 a.m. at SS. Edward & Isidore Church in Flintville, WI, F. David Kasperek presiding, with burial in the parish cemetery.
