Melvern Lundsten, 91

Melvern A. Lundsten was born May 28, 1920 in Williams, MN to Carl and Agnes (Meloney) Lundsten. The Lundsten’s had five children that were all born in the same house with Melvern being the second oldest.
Melvern grew up in Williams and would graduate from high school there in 1938 before attending Business College in Grand Forks, ND for six months. He would then return to Williams and work at his father’s general store and marry the love of his life Myrtle (Kopp) Lundsten on October 1, 1942. Melvern served his country as a member of the Army’s 91st Infantry while stationed in North Africa and Italy from October of 1942 to November 1945. After being honorably discharged from the Army He would return home to work with his father and uncle Jim at the family store. Melvern worked at the store from 1945 -1995 along with his wife.
Melvern also spent much of his time hunting, fishing, watching the Minnesota Twins and Vikings. He was a life member of the VFW the Lutheran Church and was also a member of the American Legion and the moose.
He is survived by his sons, Bruce Lundsten of Williams, MN, Lawrence Lundsten of Grand Forks, ND; a sister in California; and two brothers in Williams, MN.
Melvern is preceded in death by his parents; brother, Loren; and loving wife Myrtle.
A Memorial Service for Melvern Lundsten of Williams, MN will be held Saturday, January 21, 2012 at 2:00 PM at Bethany Lutheran Church in Williams, MN. Vistitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment held at Pine Hill Cemetey in Williams, MN.
Melvern passed away Sunday, January 15, 2012 at the age of 91.
