Bernice Violet Baldwin of Warroad passed away on February 13, 2012 at the Altru Hospital in Grand Forks at the age of 89.
Bernice was born on October 8, 1922 in McDougald Township, Beltrami County to Jacob and Alice (Thoreson) McKee. She grew up south of Williams and graduated from Williams High School. After her marriage to Francis Baldwin on December 12 1941, they lived in Carp, MN for a short time before moving to their farm in Swift. Together, they farmed and raised their family. In her mid-80’s, she moved into Warroad, MN, and most recently, the Warroad Senior Living Center.
She enjoyed playing cards and bingo (especially winning them!). She also spent time reading, fishing, doing embroidery and sewing. She helped with senior meals at the Warroad Community Center, was a past member of the American Legion Auxiliary Post 371, the Williams Senior Center and Zion Lutheran Church’s Swift Circle.
She is survived by her sons, Gary (Cherie) Baldwin of New Boston, IL, Jeff (Mary) Baldwin of Skamakawa, WA, Alan (Trudy) Baldwin of Williams, Leslie (Mary) Baldwin of Roosevelt and Mike (Deb) Baldwin of Williams; 13 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren; and in-laws, Lucille McKee, Hilma McKee, Charles & Marie Baldwin and MaryAnn Baldwin.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Francis; grandson, Robert Francis Baldwin; and brothers, Russell and John.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, February 17th at 10:30 AM at Zion Lutheran Church in Warroad. Visitation will be on Thursday from 5-7 PM with a 7:00 prayer service at Helgeson Funeral Home in Warroad. Interment will be at the Riverside Cemetery.
