Helen Roggenbuck, 84

Helen Roggenbuck, 84, died February 29, 2012, from complications of Alzheimer’s with her family by her side. She was born on July 5, 1927, in Stephen, Minnesota and raised in Badger where she attended Badger High School.
Helen was one of eight children born to the late Albert and Olga Heddan. She met and married Harvey Roggenbuck on August 4, 1947. The couple moved to Anchorage in July 1949 where they made Alaska their home and raised their three children. Harvey and Helen were blessed to share 64 years of marriage.
Helen loved gardening and sewing. She devoted much of her time and energy to her family, was a member of the Anchorage Homemakers, an organization that supported many community-oriented projects, and served as a Cub Scout den mother.
Mrs. Roggenbuck is survived by her husband, Harvey; sister Doris Van Raten; brothers, Myron and Milo Heddan; three children, Roxann, Mitchell and Karen Roggenbuck; and grandson, Stefan Roggenbuck. She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers Earl, Alvin and Rudy Heddan; and sister, Irene Bolka.
A funeral service was held at Janssen’s Evergreen Memorial Chapel, Wednesday, March 7, 2012 at 1 p.m. She was laid to rest at Fort Richardson National Cemetery.
