George F. LaMora, 65

George F. LaMora, 65, of Grand Forks, ND passed away Tuesday, April 3, 2012 at his home in Grand Forks.
 
George Francis LaMora was born June 15, 1946 in Watertown, NY the son of George and Gloria (Shaffner) LaMora.  He grew up in Massena, NY and graduated from Massena High School in 1964.  He enlisted in the United States Navy and served as a Medical Corpsman for 3 tours of duty in Viet Nam.  He retired from military service on October 31, 1989 at Whildbey Island, WA with the rank of Chief Petty Officer.  George married Veronica Flores Gallardo on December 6, 1975 in Las Vegas, NV.  Following their marriage, they lived where George was stationed in the United States Navy.  George and Veronica moved to Grand Forks in 1989 and George was employed at the University of North Dakota Center for Aerospace Studies in the division of Aviation Physiology. Veronica preceded him in death on April 26, 2008.  He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 3817, the Grand Forks Police Reserve and served on the Board of Directors for the East Grand Forks Rod and Gun Club.  He enjoyed the outdoors, especially fishing.
 
He is survived by, his sons, George (Tina) LaMora, Phoenix, AZ, Christopher Harrison, WA; daughters, Racquel (Steve) Bunney, Burlington, WA, Veronica (Marc) DeMers, East Grand Forks, MN; brothers, Terry LaMora, Madrid, NY, Michael LaMora, Canton, NY, Gerald (Linda) LaMora, Waddington, NY, Patrick LaMora, Ogdensburg, NY, David (Sharley) LaMora, Beaverton, OR, William Theresa LaMora, Hillsboro, OR; sisters, Gloria (Mrs. Kevin) Barkley, Massena, NY, Jacqueline LaMora, Norwood, NY; grandchildren, Javier, Kaya, Dominic, Connor, Anisa, Mitra, Linden and Cecelia.
 
He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Veronica.
 
Memorial Liturgy: 11:00 a.m. Saturday, April 7, 2012 in the Gregory J. Norman Funeral Chapel.
Family Greeting:  One hour prior to the liturgy in the funeral chapel on Saturday
Police Honor Guard:  Grand Forks Police Department.
Military Honors: Members of the American Legion Post 157, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 3817 and the North Dakota National Guard.
