Viva Hunter, 97

Viva Hunter, 97, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Saturday,
May 12, 2012 at Altru Hospital, Grand Forks, North Dakota surrounded
by loving family members and her pastor and his wife Galen and Julie
Nordin.   Viva Hildred (Lund) Hunter was born on August 27, 1914 at
Lancaster, Minnesota, the daughter of Otto and Hilda (Tille Magnuson)
Lund.  Viva, the third of 10 children, was baptized and confirmed in
the Lancaster Covenant Church.  She graduated from Lancaster High
School and went on to Moorhead State College where she received a
teaching certificate.  Viva taught in rural schools around the
Lancaster area for seven years.  On December 7, 1940, Viva married
Lewis Hunter at the Covenant Parsonage.  They had four children:
Virginia, Kendall, James and Daniel.  The Hunter family lived at
Orleans for 10 years before moving to Lancaster in 1951.  Lewis and
Viva farmed in the Lancaster/Orleans area for 31 years.  After she
was widowed in 1971, Viva worked at the Lancaster school as an
assistant librarian.  Viva loved her family, children, grandchildren
and great grandchildren.  She was very involved with all of her
family and followed their activities right to the end of her life.
Viva was an excellent communicator.  She went 97 years without a cell
phone and still managed to keep up with what was going on.  She also
loved her church family.  The Mission Covenant Church was a big part
of her life.  She was very active in Ladies Aid, taught Sunday school
for many years and was very devoted to her Bible study group.  Her
unwavering faith and biblical wisdom was an inspiration to her family
and all of those around her.
Viva is survived by her children, Virginia (Pat) Coffield, Kendall
(Kathleen) Hunter and Daniel Hunter, all of Lancaster; a
daughter-in-law, Wendy Hunter of Moorhead, MN; 9 grandchildren; 23
