Angeline Agnes Bothum was born to Henry and Mary (Novak) Blazek on March 6, 1919, at Haug in Soler Twp., Roseau Co., MN., the sixth of seven children. She was baptized on Apr. 2, 1919, at St. Aloysius Church of Leo, near Greenbush. Her sponsors were her uncle and aunt, John and Stella Blazek. She attended country school near her home through the 8th grade and graduated from Mount St. Benedict in Crookston and worked for a time in Red Lake Falls. She married Kenneth Bothum of Karlstad on Apr. 27, 1940, at the Catholic Church in Greenbush. The couple lived near Kennedy and then moved to Springbrook Twp. where they lived until Kenneth’s death on Nov. 16, 1985. Angeline was a hard-working wife and mother and cooked for a threshing crew, assisted by her sister, Yarmilla. She was a wonderful cook and hostess. Her family came first in her life. She valued her friends throughout the years. She loved bowling and the Minnesota Twins. Angeline has resided at the Karlstad Healthcare Center in Karlstad since Oct. of 2007, and passed away there on Tues. evening, May 22, 2012, at the age of 93 years, 2 months and 16 days.
She survived by two sons: Larry (Lori), of Karlstad, and Mark (Becky), of Kennedy, MN; one daughter: Mary (Glen) Spilde, of Karlstad; grandchildren: Kelly Poole, Trisha (Mike) Marcil, Ryan (Mandi) Bothum, Melissa (Paul) Hartness, Rachel Bothum, Luke Bothum, Alana (Lynn) Sather, Erika “Teke” Spilde, Stacy (Aaron) Rose, and Brett (Alicia) Spilde; great-grandchildren: Sarah, Nick and Alex Poole, Olivia and Max Marcil, Emma Kora and Greta Bothum, Nick, Aidan, Tristan and Reid Hartness, Brennen and Bralyn Sather, Kynslee Rose and Baron Spilde; in addition to several nieces, nephews and other relatives.
Angeline was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, one son: Alton in 1968, sisters: Mary Earle, Gabriella Eggnauer, Pauline Weidert and Yarmilla Duray, and brothers: Frank Blazek and Henry Blazek, Jr.
