Earl Arthur Beiswenger, 84

Earl Arthur Beiswenger, age 84 of Fisher, MN passed away on June 20, 2102 at Valley Eldercare.
Earl Arthur Beiswenger was born on September 2, 1927 in rural Fisher, MN the son of William and Ida (Ross) Beiswenger. He grew up and attended school in Fisher. Following graduation, he enlisted and served two years (1945 – 1947) in the United States Navy. Following his honorable discharge, he returned to Fisher. On July 3, 1953 he was united in marriage to Edith (Ann) Korbol at Trinity Lutheran Church in Fisher.
Earl and Ann purchased the Fisher Jack and Jill Grocery Store in 1954, and operated it along with their children and dedicated staff until the sale of the business in 1987. In 1970, Earl started the Beiswenger Insurance Agency to sell and service crop hail, multi-peril, and other insurance products. He pursued this interest until the sale of the agency in 2012.
Earl was an active member of the Fisher community, volunteering in several local and regional organizations. He was a lifelong member of Trinity Lutheran Church having served in numerous positions over the years, a 65 year member of the Fisher American Legion Post 242 (serving as treasurer of the club for 35 years), and a board member of the Greenwood Cemetery Association (serving as treasurer for many years). Other community organizations that Earl served proudly over the past 60 years included the Fisher Chamber of Commerce, Manager/Coach of American Legion Baseball teams, Fisher School Board, and the Polk County Planning Commission. Earl loved spending time with his family, including his siblings, children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. A special interest of Earls was sports of any type, he spent countless hours watching and traveling to watch his family participating in football, volleyball, basketball, hockey, baseball, softball, track, and gymnastics. He was also a lifelong fan of the University of North Dakota athletic teams. Other interests included traveling for leisure and playing cards.
He is survived by his children: Jeff of Moorhead, MN, Jon (Debra L.) of East Grand Forks, MN, Lori (Brian) Morken of Fisher, MN, and Joel (Kimberly) of Wadena, MN; siblings: Edith Housenga of Moorpark, CA, Alice (Dale) Gray of Lebanon, OR, Marian Hauglid of San Antonio, TX, and Lyle (Judy) Beiswenger of Grand Forks, ND; sister-in-law Henrietta (Hank) Beiswenger of Eldred, MN. grandchildren: Troy Beiswenger, Chad (Kathleen) Beiswenger, Bethany (Dana) Sorenson, Bradley Beiswenger, Brent Beiswenger, Brandon Beiswenger, Justin Morken, Alyssa Morken (Mark Halley), Bailee Beiswenger (Adam Kern), Taylor Beiswenger, and Kyle Beiswenger, great-grandchildren: Jordyn, Jayce, Conner, and Bria, and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife Ann; siblings: Luella Clarkson of Seattle, WA, Irvin (Bike) Beiswenger of Eldred, MN, and Dorothy Beiswenger of Bemidji, MN; brothers-in law: Robert Clarkson of Seattle, WA, Allen Housenga of Moorpark, CA, and Dennis Hauglid of San Antonio, TX.
Funeral Service: 10:00 AM on Monday, June 25, 2012 in Trinity Lutheran Church, Fisher, MN, Visitation one hour prior
Visitation: 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm with a 7:00 PM Prayer Service on Sunday, June 24, 2012 in Dahl Funeral Home, 2029 Central Ave. NW, East Grand Forks, MN
Interment: Greenwood Cemetery ~ Fisher, MN
