Florence Mary LeDoux Strom, 89

Florence Mary LeDoux Strom, 89, passed away peacefully at her home in  Titusville, Florida on Wednesday, May 30, 2012 with her family by her side.
    Born January 12, 1923 in Caribou, MN, she was the daughter of A. C. and Mary LeDoux. Florence was raised in Karlstad, MN and graduated from Karlstad High School in 1941. She met and married Robert H. Strom on February 1, 1943, who was serving in the United States Army at the time. Florence returned to Karlstad many times to visit with her family, especially her sister Betsy (husband, Isaac) Thompson, who still resides in Strandquist. Florence and family moved to Titusville in 1957. While in Florida, she was very involved in her children’s lives and was well known for her crafty ways. She taught many people her creative ideas. One of her famous crafts was decorating delicate eggshells. Anyone who knew Florence knew she could transform an eggshell into a very personalized gift. As a result, she became known as “The Egg Lady”. In 1969, Robert and Florence moved to the Marshall Islands and lived on the island of Kwajalein. She lived their for 8 years and during this time, Florence joined many committees and served on events honoring the military leadership. She enjoyed being immersed in the Marshallese culture and made an effort to embrace and learn all she could. In 1977, they returned to Titusville. Florence loved her family and spent quality time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She passed down her love of crafting and sewing to her family. During retirement in Titusville, Florence always gave her time to others, serving on committees and holding various offices but her greatest service was to God and her church. She was an active member at Saint Andrews Methodist Church. Many friends and family attended a beautiful service held June 5 at the church.
    Florence was the loving mother of Gerald Strom and Wanda Strom Masek; grandmother to Rebecca Sumner, Debby Short, Robert, Kernest and Charlotte Strom; great-grandmother to Kristin Ray, Stephanie Friedl, Deonny Holland, Jason, Ryan, Allison, Ricky and Brittney Strom; great-great-grandmother to Haylee and Rylee Ray and Savannah Friedl.
    Florence is survived by one sister: Betsy (Isaac) Thomson; and one sister-in-law: Marj Simchuck.
    She was preceded in death by her husband: Robert; son: Gerald; and one grandson; her parents; six LeDoux stepbrothers and sisters and five Simchuck stepbrothers and sisters; and brother: Nelson LeDoux.
    A memorial service was June 5 at St. Andrew United Methodist Church in Titusville; Rev. Shelby Davis officiating.
