James Harold Jevning, 68

James Harold Jevning, 68, passed away on Friday, November 16, 2012. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and brother. He was born on December 11, 1943 in Hallock, Minnesota to Olaf and Evelyn Jevning and was the ninth of ten children. Jim grew up in Hallock and attended Hallock High School. He also worked in Hallock’s bakery, which began a career in baking.
In September of 1967, he married Janice Waddell of Emerson, Manitoba and they moved to Minneapolis where he worked as a baker for a large grocery chain. In 1970 they returned to Hallock where he would open his own bakery “Lub’s Bake Shop” and their two children, Lesley and Adam were born.
Jim moved to Mesa, Arizona with his family in 1985. He retired from his baking career in 2001. He was remarried in March of 2006 to Roberta “Bobby” Straub of Mesa. He and Bobby lived in the Mesa East retirement park in Mesa where they enjoyed dancing, singing karaoke, shuffle boarding and time spent with family and their many friends.
James is survived by his wife Roberta, Mesa, Arizona; daughter Lesley (Todd) Davis, Gilbert, Arizona; son Adam Jevning, McMinnville, Oregon; grandsons Jackson and Ryan Davis and Cayden Jevning, granddaughters Ella and Liliana Jevning, brothers Jerry (Suzie) Jevning, Warren, MN, Allen (Laura) Jevning, Warren, MN and Wayne Jevning (Baudette, MN), sisters Dian (John) Riech, Henderson, NV and Catherine (Richard) Johnson, Kennedy, MN and many more family and friends who loved him and will miss him. Jim was preceded in death by his parents, sisters Lloyce, Erlyce and Shirley and brother Lowell. A memorial service was held at King of Glory Lutheran Church in Tempe, Arizona on November 28, 2012.
