Greg Schleif, 59

Greg Schleif of East Grand Forks, MN passed away at the age of 59 on Tuesday, December 18, 2012 at Altru Hospital in Grand Forks, ND.

         Greg Schleif was born on August 12, 1953 in Minneapolis, MN the son of Merlind and Janet (Phillips) Schleif.  Greg grew up and attended school at Roosevelt High School in Minneapolis, graduating with the Class of 1971.  Following his graduation he enlisted in the United States Air Force in October of 1973 where he served at the Grand Forks Air Force Base.  Greg was Honorable Discharged from the Air Force after 20 years of service in October of 1993. Greg retired as a Tech Sargent.  On September 3, 1988 he was united in marriage to Ruth Ann Nicholls in Warren, MN, and on April 25, 1998 he became dad to daughter Casey.  He was currently employed at the Grand Forks Air Force Base for MCS. 

         As well as being a loving father and husband he had a passion for cat fishing and had finished every Cats Incredible Tournament since it began.  He loved to BBQ on his deck in the summer and bowl with his friends in the winter.  Greg was also an avid Minnesota Gopher Hockey Fan.

         Greg is survived by his loving wife and daughter, Ruth Ann and Casey of East Grand Forks, MN; mother, Janet Schleif of Minneapolis, MN; sister, Lynn (Jeff) Schoen of Farmington, MN; aunt, Marian Phillips of Bloomington, MN; mother and father-in-law, Francis and Sharon Nicholls of Warren, MN; sister-in-law, Mary Kay (Vern) Voll of Roseau, MN; brothers-in-law, Robert (Jane) Nicholls of Monrovia, IN and Terry (Sherie) Nicholls of Grand Forks, ND, many nieces, nephews along with his cat fishing and bowling families.

         Greg is preceded in death by his father, Merlind and a brother Don.   

In Lieu of flowers the family respectively asks that memorials be preferred.
