Shelva Johnson, 65

Thief River Falls, MN, age 65, died on Thursday, January 31, 2013 at Evergreen Terrace in Grand Rapids, MN.
Visitation will be held from 3:00 PM until 6:00 PM with a 5:00 PM prayer service on Sunday, February 3, 2013 at Johnson Funeral Service in Thief River Falls, MN. Visitation will also be held from 9:30 until 10:30 on Monday at the church.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 on Monday, February 4, 2013 at Zion Lutheran Church in Thief River Falls, MN with Rev. Ale Tulu officiating. Burial will follow at Greenwood Cemetery in Thief River Falls, MN.
Shelva Jean Davis was born on October 1, 1947 in Hallock, MN the daughter of Glen and Leona (Hams) Davis. She was baptized and confirmed into the Lutheran faith. Shelva attended school in Karlstad and graduated from Karlstad High School at the age of 17.
She moved to Thief River Falls and went to school for Cosmetology at the AVTI. While living with Linda and Duane Brown, Shelva met her future husband, Gary Johnson. On June 8, 1968 the couple were married in Karlstad, MN. They made their home in Thief River Falls and two children were born to this union, Kendra and Brent.
Shelva worked for the LeMoine Beauty Shop and later became part owner of the Stylon Chateau. At that time she was also an instructor at the AVTI in the Cosmetology Department. In the mid-1980’s, Shelva became part owner of the Hairitage Salon.
Shelva enjoyed quilting, scrapbooking, crocheting, arts & crafts, shopping, and being with her dogs. Spending time with her family was the most important part of Shelva’s life; she dearly loved her family.
She was a member of the Eagle’s Auxiliary, American Legion Auxiliary, and the Thief River Falls Quilters Guild.
Survivors include her daughter, Kendra (Michael) Hutton of Manvel, ND; son, Brent Johnson of Thief River Falls, MN; 8 grandchildren, Kole, Brody, Morgan, Brooke, Breiana, Baylie, Britlyn, and Braya; sister-in-law, Esther Johnson; brother-in-law, Sherman (Mona) Johnson and many other relatives and friends.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Gary in 2005 and her parents.
