James “Jim” M. Walsh, 81

James “Jim” M. Walsh of Badger, MN passed away at his home on February 13, 2013 at the age of 81.

Jim was born on May 1, 1931 in Stokes Township, near Badger, to Helen (Witzman) and James Walsh, Sr.  As a young teenager, he started his life-long career as a farmer on the Walsh farm outside of Badger.  He farmed small grains and beef cattle.  In addition, he worked logging pulp wood at Northwest Angle for over 40 years.  He took great pride in his work.

Jim enjoyed his time spent on the farm and took very good care of his animals.  He will be remembered as a generous, hard worker who always took time to talk and visit with friends and family.  He enjoyed hunting, fishing, going to town for coffee at Farmer’s Union, dancing, 4-wheeling, and caring for others.

He is survived by his siblings, Sarah Johnson of International Falls, MN, Sister Luella Walsh of Rio Grande City, TX, Allan (Delores) Walsh of Badger, MN, Jeanette (Richard) Eklund of Gilbert, MN, George (Phyllis) Walsh of Badger, MN, Leonard (Ellen) Walsh of Oregon, Pauline Shafer of Crookston, MN and Helen (Roy) Hlucny of Greenbush, MN; brother-in-law, Howard Monsrud of Blaine, MN and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Helen and James; sister, Mary Monsrud; and brother, Charles E. Walsh; and brother-in-laws, Roy Johnson and Allan Shafer.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, February 18th at 10:30 AM at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Badger.  Visitation will be on Sunday from 5-7 PM with a7:00 Prayer Service AT THE CHURCH.  Interment will be at the St. Mary’s Cemetery.
