Mary Reese, 89

Mary Reese, 89, of Hallock, Minnesota passed away at Kittson
Memorial Healthcare Center in Hallock on Saturday, March 23rd, 2013.
Mary Margaret Olsonawski was the born on the family farm north of
Lancaster, Minnesota October 31, 1923 to Joseph and Julia (Wnuk)
Olsonawski. She was the 8th  of 14 children.  Mary was baptized and
confirmed in the Catholic faith and attended country school in Hill
Township.  On April 18, 1944 she married Charles Reese at  Holy
Rosary Catholic Church.  The couple settled in Hallock and raised
their family there.  Mary worked at the Gateway Motel and Margie’s
Cafe before she accepted a position as cook at Kittson Memorial
Hospital.  She retired from there in 1995 after 27 years of service.
Charles passed away in 1998.  Mary was an excellent cook and loved
preparing meals for her family.  She was an avid gardener, card
player and loved her little dog, “Mitzy”.  She was a longtime member
of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, St. Patrick’s Ladies Guild, and was
the first President of the Hallock Eagles Auxiliary.
    Family members include her children, Ron (Ginny) Reese, Dent, MN;
Michelle (Bruce) Steen, Lancaster, MN and Jeffrey (Laura) Reese,
Hallock; seven grandchildren, Christopher (Laura) Reese, Brian Reese,
Jason Steen (Martha York), Michael (Kristi) Steen, Jennifer Steen
(Larry Stahl), Aaron Steen and Lauren Stang; four great
grandchildren, Jamesen Reese, Reese, Josie and Elsa Steen; sisters,
Florine Skorczewski, Waseca, MN, Leona Chalaturnyk, Lancaster and
Alice (George) Skorczewski, Hendricks, MN; and many nieces and
nephews.  She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Charles;
a daughter, Peggy in 1964; eight brothers, Bill, Casimer, Andy, John,
Tony, Adam, Frank and Joseph; and two sisters, Francis and Ann.
    Funeral services are scheduled for Wednesday, March 27th, 2013 at
10:00 a.m. in St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, Hallock.  Interment will
be in Greenwood Cemetery, Hallock.  Rev. William DeCrans, presiding;
St. Patrick’s Choir, Pam Hunt, organist.  Casket bearers will be
Brian Reese, Jason Steen, Michael Steen, Aaron Steen, Larry Stahl and
Eddie Cozzen.  Visitation will be held at the church on Tuesday
evening from 6 to 8 p.m. with a prayer service at 7:00 p.m. special
music will be “ Amazing Grace”, a piano duet by Bruce Steen and his
granddaughter, Josie Steen as well as “ On The Wings Of A Dove” a
duet performed by Bruce Steen and Galen Nordin
