Henry R. Vasek , 85

Henry R. Vasek , 85, of Tabor, MN died Sunday April 7, 2013 at Altru Hospital in Grand Forks, ND following unexpected complications after heart surgery.
 
Henry Robert Vasek was born on December 23, 1927 the son of Frank and Bertha (Gust) Vasek in Northland Township, rural Tabor, MN. Henry proudly served in the U.S. Navy from 1945-1947. On April 21, 1952, Henry was united in marriage to Doris Dubuque at St. Michael’s Catholic Church, Grand ForksND. On a farm near Tabor, together they raised small grains, potatoes and cattle.  He also began Vasek Construction Inc., still being operated today by their son, Mike. After his stroke in 2000, he continued his love of farming with his Oliver tractor collection and gardening.
 
Henry was an active member of the Holy Trinity Catholic Church. He was a 4th Degree member of the Bishop Corbett Assembly #0533 of the Knights of Columbus,CrookstonMN and a Past Grand Knight of Council #5341, Sacred Heart/Holy Trinity Catholic Churches. He was also a member of the Catholic Order of Foresters. He was very involved in the community. He was a Polk Country Commissioner, a member of the Middle River Snake River Watershed Board, a Northland Township Supervisor.  He was a Northland 4-H Leader and actively participated in Agassiz Valley TEC. Henry had a deep love for his family, friends, and his faith.
 
He is survived by his wife Doris; his children, Jim (Cindy), Ramona, CA; Ron (Patty), Tabor, MN; Carol (Rick) Bye, Warren, MN, Donna (Joe) Pawlowski, Fargo, ND, Mike (Angie), Fisher, MN; 13 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren; siblings, Anna Novak, East Grand Forks; Helen Honek, Tabor and Henrietta Myszkowski, Warren, MN.
 
Henry is preceded in death by his son, David and brother, Frank Vasek.

Mass of Christian Burial: 10:30 a.m. Thursday, April 12, 2013 Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Tabor, MN.
Visitation: 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Wednesday with a 4:30 p.m. rosary service and a 7:00 p.m. vigil service in Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Tabor, MN. Visitation will continue, starting at 9:00 a.m. in the church on Thursday.
Burial: Holy Trinity Cemetery, Tabor, MN, immediately following services with lunch to follow.
Military Honors: Members of the American Legion Post 157, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 3817 and the North Dakota National Guard.
