Palmer L Hallberg, 81

    Palmer L. Hallberg, the son of the late August and Palma (Smeby) Hallberg, was born on April 8, 1932, on the farm in Deerwood Township of Kittson County, near Karlstad, MN.  He grew to manhood in the Karlstad community where he spent his entire life.  Palmer was a special part of the community, mowing yards, shoveling snow and getting the mail for many people.  He worked for John and Roger Bogestad for several years. He was an avid sports fan of Tri-County athletics, attending every game he could,  and was awarded the Number One Tri-County Sports Fan. The 2005 Tri-County Yearbook was dedicated to him.  Palmer was a faithful member of the Karlstad Assembly of God Church and was very active in all of his church’s activities. He also loved time spent at and the activities of the Kittson County D.A.C. at Lake Bronson. Palmer passed away at the Karlstad Healthcare Center in Karlstad on Tuesday, May 21, 2013, at the age of 81 years, 1 month and 13 days.
    He is survived by one brother, Ernest (Eva), of Roseville, MN.;  two sisters-in-law: Kathryn Hallberg, of Hallock, and Wendy Hallberg, of Karlstad;  special friend and caregiver: Marlene Pearson, of Karlstad;  in addition to several nieces, nephews and other relatives.     
   Palmer was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers: Marvin, Ralph and Robert; and one sister, Bernice, in infancy.
    Services were held Friday, May 24, 2013, at the Assembly of God Church,  Karlstad, Minnesota. Pastor Rick Wadholm officiated, Denis Aakre-Pianist,  Kent Hanson, Eulogy, the Hodne Family – Special Music.
    Casket Bearers were Kent Hanson, Hollis Turnwall   , Carolyn Turnwall, Rozanne Rector, Travis Rector, Loren Germundson, Danny Hallberg,     Robert Hallberg,      James Hallberg
Honorary Casket Bearers:  By your presence here today, Palmer’s family considers each of you an honorary casket bearer, especially John Oistad, Odean Anderson, Tilden Spilde and  Curtis Benson and his Kittson County D.A.C. friends.
    Interment was at Karlstad Cemetery, Karlstad, MN.
