John Albert Howdahl, 82

John Albert Howdahl, 82, of Cotton, MN died Tuesday, June 4, 2013 at St. Raphael’s Health & Rehabilitation Center in Eveleth.
John was born on June 25, 1930, in Spooner, MN to John and Gertrude Howdahl. He was married to Norma Hosterman in 1958 and married to Diane Hage in 1996 to present. John was enlisted in the United States Air Force from 1950 through 1954, primarily serving as a fireman in Japan. He worked for Wagner, Ewald & Corrin Construction as a foreman from 1956 until 1975. He began his truck driving career that spanned from 1975 until 2008 working for Kirvan Trucking, Figgins Trucking, Transport America, Terminal and Nagurski Trucking. John retired at the age of 77 in 2008. He enjoyed country and christian music, gardening, snowmobiling, fishing, camping and good humor.
John is survived by his wife Diane Elizabeth (Hage) Howdahl of Cotton; step-daughter, Christy Mann of Mason City, Iowa; children, David (Kathy) Howdahl, Cindy (Bob) Bruggeman; grandsons, Brian (Andrea) Reuter, Cory Reuter, Talon Howdahl, Chase Howdahl; great granddaughter, Teagan Reuter all of International Falls; step grandchildren, Caitlin and Zoe Mann both of Mason City, Iowa; brothers, Jack and George Howdahl and sister, Betty Ellertson; father and mother-in-law, Kenneth and Loraine Hage of Cotton and his buddies, Ernie and Joey.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Gertrude Howdahl, brothers, Carl, Earl and Harold; sister, Gladys Carlson.
Memorial service will be 11:00 a.m., Monday June 11, 2013 at Cotton Community Church with Pastor Justin Kryck as officiant. Visitation will be one hour before the service at the church. Inurnment will be in Cotton Cemetery. Military Honors will be accorded. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be directed to the East Range Hospice or St. Raphael’s Health & Rehabilitation Center in Eveleth.
