Chuck was born on November 14, 1931 to Charley and Alma (Lund) Swenson, in Karlstad, MN. Chuck was raised on a farm near Karlstad and graduated from Karlstad with the class of 1949. During his junior and senior years, he played varsity football, basketball and baseball.
After high school, Chuck enlisted in the U.S. Air Force and served from 1951 thru 1961. He served with the 98th Bomb Wing, stationed in Japan during the Korean War. During his second enlistment, he served with the 36th Fighter Wing, stationed in Bitburg, Germany. During that period, he made several TDY trips to France and North Africa, including Tripoli, Libya and Casablanca, Morocco.
After his military service, Chuck worked for the Bendix Corporation on the Pacific Missile Range, operating out of Eniwetok Atoll, Marshall Islands. Following the Pacific employment, Chuck went to work in the computer field in southern California.
Chuck married Patricia Lynn Dacey from La Crosse, WI, in Santa Monica, CA, on July 24, 1965. Their daughter, Carrie was born in October 1966. Chuck and his family lived in California for seventeen years before finally having enough of the Los Angeles traffic and decided to move to a smaller community, finally deciding on Eau Claire and never regretted the move they made in 1978.
Chuck continued to work in the computer field until his retirement, from the computer department in the Chippewa County Courthouse, in 1966. During his retirement, Chuck played golf, joined Gold’s Gym, and traveled extensively with his wife, visiting 60+ countries. He was a lifetime member of the VFW Post 305 and a member of the American Legion Post 53.
Chuck loved his family, his wife, Pat of 47 years; his daughter, Carrie, whom he was so proud of; son-in-law, Michael Hallquist; granddaughters, Kelsey and Jamie; sister, Linda Cottle; brother, Tom Swenson; and other extended family.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and a brother, Nordie Swenson.
