Hazel Lofberg, 86

    Hazel E. Lofberg age 86 of Hallock, MN passed away Monday June 25, 2013 at ALTRU Hospital in Grand Forks, ND.  Hazel Lofberg the daughter of Ole and Edith Peterson was born on December 3, 1926 in Orleans, MN.  Hazel attended Mayflower School through the  8th grade and then stayed home to help on the family  farm.  In 1970 she earned her GED.  Hazel married Allen Lofberg in 1944.  They lived in rural Orleans, MN for a few years until moving to Humboldt where they raised four sons.  Her husband Allen passed away in 1993.  Hazel continued to live in Humboldt until 2006 when she moved to Hallock and lived out her remaining years.  Hazel was a homemaker and cooked at the Humboldt School for 28 years.  She was a member of the Humboldt United Methodist Church where she served as a trustee and communion stewardess.  She was an active member of the St. Vincent and Lancaster Senior Centers until closing.  One of her passions in life was the Hallock Senior Center where she served on the board and volunteered many hours cooking, making rugs and pitching in whenever something needed to be done.  Hazel had many hobbies; sewing, making rugs, gardening, flowers and anybody she could talk into a scrabble game. She also liked spending time with friends, family, children and grandchildren.  She liked to travel.  Some of her favorite places were Alaska, the East Coast, Hawaii and the Panama Canal.  
    Hazel is survived by four sons:  Lorne (Verna) of Bemidji, MN, Bryan (Joyce) of Mount Holly, NJ, Jeff of Breckenridge, MN, Kevin (Gwen) of Kodiak, AK, seven grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren, two step
grandchildren and four step great great grandchildren.          She was preceded in death by her parents Ole and Edythe, husband Allen, sisters Joyce and Audrey and a brother Harvey.
    Funeral services were Saturday, June 29, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. in the United Methodist Church at Humboldt, Minnesota.
    Interment was in Sikar Cemetery. Rev. Gary Johnson, presided; Robert Bockwitz, organist and Marjorie Hawk, soloist.
    Honorary casket bearers will be Hazel’s grandchildren. Visitation was held at the church on Friday. with a prayer service at 7:00 p.m.
    The Austin Funeral Home of Hallock is in charge of arrangements.
