James Lindahl, 79

James Peter Arthur Lindahl, 79, of rural Hallock, Minnesota, passed away June 24, 2013.   He was born February 6, 1934, to Arthur and Alma (Engelbrakson) Lindahl.   
    James attended country school near the family farm in South Red River township and graduated from Hallock High School in 1952.   He attended North Dakota State University, as well as mechanics school in Thief River Falls.  
    After the death of his father, James worked on the family farm with his uncle Eldred and took over operations in 1963.   
    On July 10, 1965, he was united in marriage to Marilyn Lundell at Kennedy Covenant Church, and they made the “Lindahl Riverside
Farm” their family home for their entire lives together.  James was a life-long member of Red River Lutheran Church, rural Kennedy.  He loved his Lord, his family, and his life as a farmer.               James was also a passionate hockey fan and spent many of his winters as a youth hockey coach.  
    He is survived by his wife, Marilyn; two sons, Jonathan (Terri) of Plymouth, Minnesota, and David (Beth) of Fargo, North Dakota; daughter, Kathryn (Matthew) Vesely of Hutchinson, Minnesota; eight  grandchildren:   Jeffrey, Jay, Julia, Josephine, Dawson, Bergen, Marcus, and Jonas; sister Avis Hatheway of Yakima, Washington; several cousins,
nieces, nephews, and in-laws.  
    He was preceded in death by his father,  mother, and brother-in-law, Russel Hatheway.   
    Funeral services were held on Saturday, June 29, 2013 in the Evangelical Mission Covenant Church at Kennedy, MN. Interment was held in the Red River Lutheran Cemetery, rural Hallock.  Wesley Staie, lay pastor, presided; Leslie Widner, organist; Wesley and Barbara Staie, duet; Maiya Bengtson, violin.
    Honorary casket bearers were Franklin Carlson, James Sjostrand, John Younggren,Harold Anderson, Dr. Roland Larter, Ronnie Johnson, Lowell Anderson, Rodney Twistol.
    Casket bearers were Jeffrey Lindahl, Jeff Mortenson,Chris Mortenson, Micah Bengtson, Jordan Bengtson and David Lundell.
    Visitation was held at the Austin Funeral Chapel in Hallock on Friday evening from with a prayer service at 7:00 p.m.
