Donald Holweger, 86, of East Grand Forks, MN died Sunday, July 21, 2013 at the Luther Memorial Home, Mayville, ND.
Donald Holweger was born on April 5, 1927 in Emerado, ND the son of Fred and Lena Holweger. Donald grew up in Emerado and farmed with his parents. On December 30, 1949 he was united in marriage to Glenna Stepanek at the Evangelical United Brethren Church in Grand Forks, ND. In 1960 they moved to East Grand Forks, MN where he worked for Johnson-Gillanders Construction Co. and Lunseth Plumbing & Heating. In 1974 he started Holweger Excavating and continued to own and operate the business before retiring in 1998.
Don was a member of Zion United Methodist Church and also a Life Member of the Eagles Lodge #350 of East Grand Forks. Don enjoyed traveling all over the United States and Mexico with their Motorhome, cooking and outdoor grilling for family and friends and sharing stories with family and friends. Don’s favorite activity was being outdoors with his nuts, bolts and John Deere tractors.
Don is survived by his wife Glenna of East Grand Forks, MN; children, Kathy (Rick) Lee of Fargo, ND, Michael (Bonnie Schultz) of Grand Forks, ND and Cynthia of Livingston, MT; 6 granddaughters, Shawnna, Kelly, Jodi, Jill, Holly and Erica Ann; 9 great-grandchildren; sister, Clara (Henry) Taylor of Apache Junction, AZ and brother, Milton Holweger of Grand Forks, ND along with many nieces and nephews.
Don is preceded in death by his parents; 3 sisters and 6 brothers.

Visitation: 5:00 to 7:00 with a 6:30 PM Prayer Service on Thursday, July 25, 2013 in Dahl Funeral Home, 2029 Central Ave. NW, East Grand Forks, MN
Burial: Memorial Park Cemetery, Grand Forks, ND.
