Virgene Francetta (Nelson) Norby, age 77, of Chaska, MN, formerly of Thief River Falls and Minneapolis, MN area, died Thursday, August 1, 2013 at Mount Olivet Careview Nursing Home, Minneapolis, MN.
Memorial Services were held on Monday, August 5, 2013 at the Bertas Funeral Home in Chaska, MN. The Reverend Matt Bersagel, of Crown of Glory Lutheran Church, Chaska, officiated.
A Graveside Inurnment Service will be held on Friday, August 9, at 11:00 AM at Poplar Grove Cemetery, rural Strathcona, MN with Pastor LeRoy Petersen of Greenbush, officiating.
Virgene was born September 28, 1935 in Greenbush, MN, to Wallace and Nellie (Willet) Nelson, and was one of six children. She was baptized in Poplar Grove Lutheran Church, Strathcona MN, and confirmed in St. Hilaire, MN. At age 11, Virgene moved to Thief River Falls, MN, and graduated from Lincoln High School, Thief River Falls, in 1953. Virgene had moved and lived in the Minneapolis area for over 40 years and recently had resided in Chaska where she lived for the last four years.
Virgene was employed at Industrial Supply Company in Plymouth, MN, as office manager for 42 years. She loved and raised her two children, Mark and Angie; she loved to paint porcelain dolls and make ceramics and passionately loved and cared for her pets. She loved her family and was a kind sharing mother.
Virgene was preceded in death by her parents, Wallace and Nellie, father of her children Mendley Norby, brothers, Neil and Jonas.
Survivors include her son, Mark and Hilary Norby, of Cologne; daughter, Angelia Wright, of Crystal; grandchildren, Beverly Ann Norby and Lisa Wright; great grandchildren, Kaitlynn and Victor; sister, Marcia (Orrin) Ramstad, of Bloomington; brothers, Eugene (Barb) Nelson, of Mankato, Ronald (Shirley) Nelson, of Thief River Falls; other relatives and friends.
Funeral arrangements were with the Bertas Funeral Home of Chaska, MN. Local arrangements are with Gieseke Funeral Chapel of Greenbush.
