Maryann (Haack) Cornell, 55

Maryann  (Haack) Cornell passed away on August 8, 2013 after her long but well-fought battle with cancer.  Maryann was the youngest of six children born to Mary Louise (Baker) and Meyel Herman Haack, and was raised in Jacksonville, FL.  She spent the last twenty-five years living with the love of her life—husband Clarence “Clancy” Cornell—in Baudette and Faribault, Minnesota and in Clermont, Florida.

Maryann loved the simple pleasures in life: fishing in Canada, growing tomatoes, traveling in their motorhome, and their beloved dogs. She  loved to travel the world, both for Clancy’s business ABC Companies and for pleasure, and often organized trips with family and friends.

Most of all, Maryann loved spending time with her family.  She was incredibly proud of her daughter Jennifer Leigh (Haack) Schmidt, and always looked forward to having her grandkids Ellex and Katon spend the night. She also enjoyed time with extended family at the farm where she spent time growing up.  Maryann was the consummate hostess and always made the ordinary moments special when the Minnesota family contingent came to visit.

Maryann is survived by her husband Clancy; daughter Jennifer Leigh (Kyle) Schmidt; her siblings Faith (Doug) Hoogs, Kathy (David) Anderson, Patty (Lee) Loper, Buddy (Weronika) Haack, and Mike (Dean) Haack; family members Deb Cornell, Pat Stanton, Roxanne Cornell and Jen Polzin, Dane and Judy Cornell, Robyn Cornell; grandchildren Ellex  and Katon Schmidt, Kerry Berken, Angie Stanton, Roman (Michelle) Cornell, Ryhan (Jay) Hanna, Lucas Cornell, Angie Cornell (Becky Ramsey), Ashley (Andy) James; and nieces and nephews Christie Clark-Hetzell, Jessie (Isabel) Loper, Erin Loper, Zofi and Julia Haack, Summer (Matt) Graziano, Heather and Kristen Haack; the little ones of the next generation including Max, Kassidy, Kasey, Lotus, Emma, Christian and Sydney; and the countless friends that were like family.

A private family graveside service and celebration of Maryann’s life will be held in Clermont on Sunday, August 11. In lieu of flowers, gifts may be made in memory of Maryann to the Mike Conley Hospice House, 2100 Oakley Seaver Drive, Clermont, FL, 34711.   Becker Funeral Home, Clermont, FL, is serving the family.  www.beckerfamilyfuneral.com.
