Dorothy M. Hoosier, 81

Funeral services  for Dorothy M. Hoosier of Badger were held on Monday, September 9 at 11:00 a.m. at Our Redeemers Lutheran Church in Badger
Dorothy Hoosier was born on November 16, 1931 in Greenbush, Minnesota to Mabel (Wold) and Martin D.  Anderson. She grew up six miles west of Badger and attended school in Haug through the eighth grade. She then transferred to Badger where she graduated from Badger High School in 1949.  
Dorothy married Howard Hoosier on November 29, 1952 at Our Redeemers Lutheran Church in Badger.  She worked as a waitress at Christy’s Café, at the Red Owl Store and many years at the Hartz Store in Badger.  She and Howard have two children, Bernice and Barrett.  
Dorothy enjoyed gardening, hand work such as knitting and crocheting, and also reading. She also enjoyed bowling and bowled as long as she was able to.  She attended many state and national bowling tournaments. She was a member at Our Redeemers Lutheran Church in Badger, belonged to the Gro-Rite Garden Club, and was a lifelong member of the V.F.W. Ladies Auxiliary.
Dorothy Hoosier passed away on September 3, 2013 at the Altru Hospital in Grand Forks.  She was 81 years old.
She is survived by her daughter Bernice Hoosier of Badger, son Barrett (Tiana) Hoosier of Badger and their children, Keithan, Ella and Eli; siblings, Alden “Toby” Anderson, Irene (Newell) Ode, and Gretchen Kjellberg.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Howard in 1997; parents, Mabel and Martin; sisters, Helen Wittak, Elna Hanson, and Mimi Lagen; brothers-in-law, Robert Wittak and Evan Hanson and sister-in-law, Lois Anderson.
