Keith Rasmusson, 75

Keith Rasmusson, 75, of Dilworth, MN, formerly of the Greenbush-Badger area, died Thursday, September 12, 2013 in LifeCare Medical Center at Roseau, MN.
Keith Kennon Rasmusson, the oldest child of Wilford  and Beatrice (Annis) Rasmusson, was born March 12, 1938 at Blue Earth, MN.  He grew up in north Minneapolis, MN.
Keith married Sharon Newling in 1962 and they had four children. They dissolved their marriage in 1973.
Keith had many different jobs over the years. He drove garbage truck as a young man.  The family moved to Arizona in 1969 where he worked in a salvage yard. In 1974 he moved to Clearbrook, MN, where he owned and operated a restaurant and hotel.  He then moved to the Badger-Greenbush area in 1979 and worked as a heavy equipment operator for Micky Juhl.  He purchased his own truck in 1981 and operated over the road long distance for ten years. Later he drove for other truck owners and often said, “This way I can still drive and still get paid.”  He drove truck until he retired in 2012 due to injuries he sustained in a trucking accident.
Keith enjoyed spending time fishing and camping with his children and grandchildren and talking and drinking coffee with his friends. His favorite pastime was attending auction sales where he got many good deals, according to Keith. According to his daughter, Thedy, this was just more stuff for Jimmy to pile in the garage.
He is survived by:  Four children—Carol Rasmusson of Minneapolis;  Thedy (Jim) Bergsnev of Greenbush, MN;  Kenny Rasmusson of Minneapolis and Marisa Rasmusson of Badger, MN; seven grandchildren—Courtney, Justin, Jaci, Brody, Codi, Jevan and Mia; five great-grandchildren and one great-great-granddaughter.
One brother—Gary (Cookie) Rasmusson, Four sisters—Sandra (Gary) Hansen, LeAnn Vielbig, DeAnn Garrett and Michelle (Dale) Schrimshaw; several nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his step-father—Daryl Riley, infant brother—Bradley, one nephew—David Smoter, one niece—Kim Rasmusson, one brother-in-law—Roger Lipa and one sister-in-law—Renee Rasmusson.
Keith was not feeling well and went to the doctor on August 12 of this year.  A week later he was diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukemia.  Keith died on Thursday, September 12, 2013 in LifeCare Medical Center at Roseau, MN at the age of 75 years and 6 months.
A Memorial Service was held on Monday, September 16, 2013 at 2 PM in Oiland Lutheran Church of Greenbush, with Pastor Gary Skramstad, officiating. Music was provided by Gail Steinhauer.  Inurnment was in Oiland Cemetery with Gieseke Funeral Chapel of Greenbush in charge of arrangements.
