Directors’ Meeting Minutes- August 20, 2013
Pace called the regular meeting of the Board of Directors for the Area Special Education Cooperative to order at 9:30 a.m. at the Blue Moose Restaurant in East Grand Forks, MN. Board Members present were Joel Young, Brian Clarke, James Guetter,
Randy Bruer, Chris Mills, Mark Nohner, Dave Pace, Norm Baumgarn and Mark Lundin. Absent members were Mike Kolness, Lance Northey, and Lon Jorgensen. Gary Jones, Julie Aumock, Judd Fredstrom, and Becky Conati were also present.
Motion by Young, seconded by Bruer to approve the July 16, 2013 board meeting minutes as presented. UC Motion by Baumgarn, seconded by Church to approve the agenda as presented. UC Motion by Mills, seconded by Young to approve the August 2013 bill run including Check #’s 38576 – 38575 and Financial Report and Expenditure/Revenue Report ending July 31, 2013.
CORRESPONDENCE/REPORTS & DISCUSSION ITEMS:
Jones told members that the school psychologist position had not been filled. There was one applicant but they withdrew their application. There were many openings for school psychologist positions throughout the state. Jones plans to change the model of service for the school psychologists in order to meet all district needs.
Aumock updated members on the Early Intervention and Early Childhood Special Education services that ASEC provided.
Regarding MA billing, she said that she will be overseeing the administrative decisions regarding eligibility and procedure.
Lea Duckstad will continue to do the daily MA billing and paperwork.
Fredstrom reported that Correction Action Plans for Part B students have been completed and accepted by MDE. Three Part C Correction Action Plans are pending.
The negotiating team had nothing to report.
Motion by Baumgarn, seconded by Mills to approve the amended 2013-2014 ASEC Calendar. UC
The next meeting was tentatively scheduled for Tuesday, September 17, 2013 at the Blue Moose Restaurant in East Grand Forks. Meeting was adjourned at 10:30 a.m.
