Elwood N Jacobson, 90

    Elwood Norman Jacobson, the son of the late Nordy and Maude (Flint) Jacobson, was born on Januarty 16, 1923, on the family farm near Lake Bronson, MN. He attended country school near his home and Lake Bronson School, later attending Karlstad High School. He was baptized at the Lutheran Church in Hallock on June 5, 1923, and confirmed at First Lutheran Church in Karlstad on May 28, 1950.
    Elwood was united in marriage to Vivian Ryden on June 7, 1944, at Teien Lutheran Church near Drayton. Elwood served with the U.S. Navy from January of 1945 until April of 1946. He then farmed east of Karlstad near Pelan for several years and later farmed east of Karlstad in Arveson Township. From 1955 until 1965, he worked at the Karlstad Creamery, then moved to the creamery in Thief River Falls. He became a field representative for Land ’O Lakes at Alexandria, MN and also at Oakes, ND, for 7 and a half years, Fosston, MN for a time before taking over as plant manager at Roseau until retirement in 1985. The couple then moved to Karlstad where they were the maintenance couple at the Karlstad State Bank for several years.
    Elwood was a member of First Lutheran Church of Karlstad and of the Karlstad American Legion Post #445. Since Aug. of 2008, he has resided at the Karlstad Healthcare Center where he passed away on Saturday morning, December 7, 2013, at the age of 90 years, 10 months and 14 days.
    He is survived by his wife of 69 years, Vivian, of Karlstad; one son: Wayne (Corienne), of Karlstad; one daughter: Diane (Ken) Lund, of Buffalo, MN; 4 grandchildren: Jason Lund, Buffalo; Matthew Lund, Monticello, MN; Kelly Lund, in Florida; and Andrew Lund, of Big Lake, MN; 8 great-grandchildren: Anthony, China, Lilyan, Natalie, Leif, Atticus, Ramona, and Emily; one great-great-grandson: Dean; one brother: Steve (Jeanne) Jacobson, of Bismarck, ND; one sister: Shirley Bronson, of Karlstad; and several nieces, nephews and other relatives.
    He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers: Winfred and Lowell.
    Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at First Lutheran Church in Karlstad with Pastor Gary Halverson officiating. Visitation was one hour prior to services Tuesday at the church. Interment will be in Riverside Cemetery. Military honors will be accorded by the Karlstad American Legion Post.
    Collins Funeral Home of Karlstad was in charge of arrangements.
