EGF?SNOW REMOVAL ORDINANCES
With winter upon us again here is a friendly reminder of snow removal ordinances.
§ 96.05 ICE AND SNOW ON PUBLIC SIDEWALKS.
(A) Ice and snow a nuisance. All snow and ice remaining upon public sidewalks is declared to constitute a public nuisance and shall be abated by the owner or tenant of the abutting private property within 12 hours after such snow or ice has ceased to be deposited.
Sections B-E states how if the City has to have the snow and ice removed there will be assessment put on the property.
§ 96.09 OBSTRUCTIONS IN STREETS.
(E) Placing snow or ice in the roadway.
(1) It is a misdemeanor for any person, not acting under a specific contract with the city or without special permission from the City Superintendent of Streets, to remove snow or ice from private property and place the same in any roadway.
(2) Where permission is granted by the City Superintendent of Streets, the person to whom the permission is granted shall be initially responsible for payment of all direct or indirect costs of removing
the snow or ice from the street. If not paid collection shall be by civil action or assessment against the benefitted property as any other special assessment.
