Ronald J. Vonasek, 62

Ronald J. Vonasek age 62 of East Grand Forks, MN passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, December 19, 2013 at Altru Hospital, Grand Forks., ND.
          Ronald James Vonasek was born on April 26, 1951 in Grand Forks, ND the son of Joseph and Marie (Pahlen) Vonasek.  Ronald grew up and attended rural school in Tabor.  He graduated from East Grand Forks Senior High School with the Class of 1969.  Following his high school graduation Ronald attended Moorhead Technical College.  He worked for Coke a Cola Distributing in Fargo and then for RDO Equipment for 42 years.  On July 15, 1971 he was united in marriage to Genevieve “Genny” Kovar in Tabor, MN.  He served his country with the National Guard from 1971 to 1977.  Ronald farmed his entire life in the Tabor area.  He was also an Alderman for East Grand Forks from 2011 to the time of his death.
          Ron is survived by his wife Genny of East Grand Forks, MN; children, Shane (Angie) Vonasek of Roseau, MN, Jodie (Dustin) McDonald of Fisher, MN, Jeff Vonasek of Angus, MN, Jackie (Jeremy) Aker of East Grand Forks, MN, Aimee (Paul) McGlynn of Fargo, ND and Laura (Dylan) McDaniel of Grand Forks, ND; nine grandchildren with two more on the way; siblings, Donna (Dean) Burton of East Grand Forks, MN and Dennis (Denise) Vonasek of Lakeville, MN.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Marie Vonasek and one brother David.  He was a member of the Eagles, Modern Woodmen, and the Knights of Columbus.
In Lieu of Flowers, memorials are preferred.
 
Mass of Christian Burial: 10:00 AM on Monday, December 23, 2013 in Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 200 3rd St. NW, East Grand Forks, MN.
 
Visitation:   3:00 to 5:00 with a 4:30 PM Prayer Service on Sunday, December 22, 2013 in Sacred Heart Catholic Church and also one hour prior to the Funeral Service on Monday in Sacred Heart Church.
 
Interment:  Holy Trinity Catholic Cemetery ~ Tabor, MN
