Lowell Homstad 79

Lowell Homstad 79 of Lancaster, MN passed away on April 2 2014 at
Kittson Memorial Healthcare Center in Hallock, MN.

    Lowell was born February 1, 1935 to Conrad and Emma (Johnson)
Homstad.   Lowell was a graduate of  Lancaster School.   He married
Shirley Cedergren on November 1 1953.

    Lowell and his brother, Lawrence, owned and operated Homstad
Brother’s Garage (a business started by their father) in Lancaster
for 23 years, from 1957 to 1980.  He was a Rural Mail Carrier for 35
years, 21 years as a sub and 14 years as a regular carrier at
Strathcona, MN and later at Lancaster, MN.

    He was a member of the Sion Lutheran Church, the Lancaster Fire
Department, Lions Club and Golf Club.  He also served on the
Lancaster School Board, Lancaster City Council and Sion Lutheran
Church Board.  

    He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Shirley,  Sons; Jeff (Sally)
Homstad, Mesa, AZ, Brad(Cathy) Homstad, Lancaster,    Daughters;
Shelly (Dave) Johnson, Thief River Falls and Connie (Tim) Kuntz,
Dayton, MN.   His Grandchildren; Kevin (Tina), Scott (Bria) and
Kaylee Homstad;  Ross (Brooke), Brett (Nikki Carriere) and Chase
Homstad;   Alyson and Anthony Kuntz and Step Grandchildren Krissy and
Travis Johnson; Great-Grand Children; Nathan Homstad and Trekker
Homstad, Adriana and Kaden Johnson; In-laws; Elizabeth Homstad,
Kenneth Krueger, Lowell (Alvina) Cedergren, Mikki (Bill) Beck, Curt
(Connie) Cedergren.  He is also survived by many Nieces and Nephews.
He enjoyed spending time with family and friends who all had a
special place in his heart.

Lowell is preceded in death by his parents, 5 Brothers (Kenneth,
Russell, Arnold, Lawrence and Charles) and 1 Sister (Eleanor Abney)
as well as many other family members and friends.

Funeral Services will be held on April 14th at 11:00 AM at Sion
Lutheran Church in Lancaster, MN.  Interment will bein Riverview
Memorial Garden Cemetery, Lancaster. Rev. Melodi Hagen, presiding;
Galen Nordin and Faye Potrament, duet; Dianne Rice, organist.
Honorary casket bearers will be Lowell’s grandchildren. Visitation
will be on April 13th from 6-8 PM with a Prayer Service at 7:00 at
Austin Funeral Home in Hallock, MN.

In Lieu of flowers the family has requested memorials be made to Sion
Lutheran Church, COLEG or the charity of your choice.
