Violet “Babe” Anderson, 84

Violet “Babe” Anderson, 84, of Lake Bronson, Minnesota passed away
at Kittson Memorial Healthcare Center in Hallock on Thursday, April
3, 2014. Violet Josephine Hastings was born June 3,1929 in Jupiter
Township of Kittson County, Minnesota to Keith and Violet (Dreher)
Hastings.  Violet was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith.
She attended country school in Jupiter Township and high school in
Lake Bronson.  On December 29, 1945 she was united in marriage to
Marvin Anderson at Thief River Falls, Minnesota. The couple lived in
Thief River Falls for several years before moving to Lake Bronson.
Babe did seasonal work on area farms and also worked the campaign at
American Crystal Sugar Company for 20 years.  Babe and Marvin farmed
and raised dairy cattle before retiring in 1990.  Babe always said
she would still have milk cows if Marvin hadn’t listed them for sale
in the Bronson Budget without her knowledge. She enjoyed doing
embroidery work, cooking, making quilts for family members and loved
the board game Aggravation (often accusing her grandchildren of
cheating). She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church.  
    She is survived by her husband, Marvin; children, Avis (Ron) Sele,
Karlstad, MN and Duane (Deborah) Anderson, Lake Bronson, MN; four
grandchildren, Scott (Carol) Sele, Karlstad, Kevin (friend Chris)
Sele, Karlstad, Dianna (Kurt) Kluzak, Faribault, MN and Chris (friend
Lindsey) Anderson, Lake Bronson; 8 great grandchildren, Laura, Eric,
Alex, Ashlee, Briana, Megan, Kyle and Zander; and a sister, Evelyn
(Freddie) Anderson, Lake Bronson. She was preceded in death by her
parents; a son, Wayne (Duane’s twin brother), a great grandson, Brian
Sele and sisters, Verna, Eleanor and Mildred.  
Funeral services are scheduled for Thursday, April 10th, 2014 at
2:00 p.m. in Zion Lutheran Church at Lake Bronson.  Interment will be
in Riverside Cemetery, Lake Bronson.  Pastor Kathy Levenhagen,
presiding; Everett and Kathy Englund, special music. Honorary casket
bearers will be friends and neighbors.  Casket bearers will be Scott
and Kevin Sele, Dianna Kluzak, Chris Anderson, Eric, Laura and Alex
Sele and Kyle Kluzak.  Visitation will be held at the Austin Funeral
Home in Hallock on Wednesday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. with a prayer
service at 8 p.m.
