Nancy Margaret Norberg, age 85, of Virginia and formerly of Tower died Friday, October 31, 2014, at Essentia Health – St. Mary’s in Duluth. She was born March 5, 1929, in Heaton, ND the daughter of Johan and Myrtle (Olson) Sunne. She graduated from Baudette High School, and later received her Bachelor of Science degree from Bemidji State University. Nancy was united in marriage to Gene Norberg on June 28, 1953, in Baudette, MN.
Nancy worked as an Elementary and Special Education Teacher in Tower and Virginia. She enjoyed sewing both clothing and quilts. Nancy valued education for herself as well as her family.
Nancy is survived by her children: Barbara (Richard) Andresen of Hermantown, MN, Lois (Dave) Bristow of Batavia, IL, Eric (Carol) Norberg of Duluth, MN, Shirley (Kevin) Burritt of Mt. Iron, MN, and Patti (Peter) Stoddard of Tower, MN; ten grandchildren: Chris Jamnick, Tami Jamnick, Dr. Josie Lopez, Beth Norberg, Kim Zoellick, Brian Norberg, Natalie Nistler, Austin Burritt, Abbey Burritt, and Rachel Stoddard; two great-grandchildren: Emily Lopez and Rose Zoellick; several step-grandchildren and great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and several cousins in Norway.
She was preceded in death by her parents: her husband: Eugene in 2000; her sister: Ruth Johnson; her brother: Roy Sunne; and three infant grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. Sunday, November 2, 2014, at the Messiah Lutheran Church in Mt. Iron. Visitation will continue at the church Monday, November 3, 2014, from 10:00 A.M. until the 11:00 A.M. funeral service. The Reverend Kristin Foster will officiate. Burial will be at a later date in the Tower Cemetery.
